Chapter 8 – The CEO’s Son

Fang Jiu: “…”

She reached out a hand to push that hand on her waist away and recovered her stern expression, “I really have something to discuss with the chairman.”

Looking at her serious expression, Jing Lie laughed lightly and looked at her meaningfully, “I would like to see what business you have with that old man.”

As he said that, he turned around and walked out of the room so she could change.

After the door was closed, Fang Jiu quickly locked it. If the male lead’s son got her that easily, how could she even play distant!

She quickly dried up her underclothes and her hair before changing into that purple dress. When Fang Jiu went downstairs, she could see the few people sitting on the sofa and chatting with each other. The female lead was reading a magazine as she leaned there while the male lead continued to argue with his son coldly.

“Secretary Fang’s here,” Seeing her walk down the stairs, Wen Yi immediately put down the magazine and waved at her.

Fang Jiu felt a bit awkward. She didn’t feel awkward before, but after all, they got caught by the male lead.

“I was telling you if this boy is not here under the broad daylight, he is probably doing some embarrassing things in his room. See, I’m right this time,” Jing Cheng huffed at Wen Yi.

Jing Lie, who was sitting at one side, rolled his eyes, “I was doing embarrassing things? Someone here wants to do embarrassing things every day.”

“If I never did any of those embarrassing things, do you think you would still be here?” Jing Cheng was getting angrier by the moment. If only he knew his son would be the third wheel, he would’ve chosen to take some prevention.

Fang Jiu: “…”

Why were they suddenly talking about s*x?

Wen Yi, blushing, pinched Jing Cheng’s arm and glared at him, “You’re very impressive, huh? Sleep in the living room today!”

The latter immediately frowned as if he wanted to say something. Fang Jiu could only give a slight cough, “Uh… Chairman, yesterday… Zhuang Min came to find me.”

The entire hall went quiet. They could only hear the sounds of Wang Yi walking towards them with a bowl of ginger soup.

Different from being oddly silent like his parents, Jing Lie seemed very serene. When Fang Jiu sat down next to him, Wang Yi placed the bowl in front of her, “Secretary Fang, make sure to drink it while this is still hot. It would be bad if you catch a cold.”

Fang Jiu nodded at her, “Thank you, Wang Ayi.”

“No problem, no problem,” Wang Yi sensed something was wrong here because of the atmosphere change, and she immediately went back into the kitchen.

The usual gentleness had long disappeared from Wen Yi’s face, and it got replaced by hatred. She coldly glanced at Jing Cheng, picked up her magazine, and went upstairs.

The series of movements could make one imagine a huge farce involving love and grudges. Fang Jiu knew the female lead hated the cannon fodder since she killed her first child. It was normal for the female lead to react this way right now.

Jing Cheng didn’t chase his wife to explain. He only lit up a cigarette and leaned on the couch silently, with his expression deep, “What did she say?”

Fang Jiu gave a light sigh and replied honestly, “She wants me to cooperate with her, and she also offered me a check worth ten million RMB. I think she might… She might want to do something to the company.”

Jing Cheng suddenly looked at her with twinkling eyes, “Ten million. Why didn’t you accept the deal?”

“…”

“You still think we’re living in your times? Secretary Fang has a big taste. She cannot be bought with just ten million,” Jing Lie sneakily reached out his hand to touch her waist and gave it a light pat.

Fang Jiu timidly glared at him and sat further away from him.

“Be aware of your actions, don’t be like this all day,” The Jing Cheng, who was destined to sleep on the couch today, did not like how his son was behaving.

The latter laughed and was about to say something, but as he thought of his old man having to sleep on the couch for a few days, he took back his rebuttal.

“Chairman, there’s a big project going on in the company; we’re trying to get that piece of land at Nanwan. If we look at the situation right now, Zhuang Min might interfere with it,” Fang Jiu didn’t want to joke with them; she could still remember the cannon fodder’s expression as if she would never quit unless she killed both the male and the female lead.

Jing Cheng knew this was nothing to joke around. After pondering for a moment, he extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray, “I don’t care much about the company; you can deal with that. But Zhuang Min is going to do something to your mom. We need to find this woman!”

A hint of cruelness flashed through his eyes before he stood up and walked in the direction of the stairs. He was going to comfort his wife.

Fang Jiu blinked, and she silently drank up the bowl of ginger soup. Seeing that the rain had stopped outside, she could only stand up and get ready to go.

“I’ll give you a ride,” Jing Cheng got up and picked up the car keys on the table. Fang Jiu hurriedly stopped him, “No, I’m fine. It’s not right for you to send me home.”

The latter couldn’t help but glance at her subservient expression with a weird look. Jing Lie’s tone was teasing, “Secretary Fang, do you think I’m the type of man who doesn’t take responsibility?”

Fang Jiu: “…”

“No, I just feel like…”

“Where is that courage you used to seduce me just now?” He smirked, took the keys, and walked in front of her.

Fang Jiu could only slowly follow him. To be fair, she also wanted to know: Where did that courage come from just now?

008 must’ve given it to her!

This was the first time her boss was taking her home, and Fang Jiu felt a bit flattered, but she still asked out of politeness whether he wanted to come to her apartment.

Jing, with one hand on the steering wheel, looked at her meaningfully, “Are you inviting me?”

Fang Jiu: “…”

She felt like the male lead’s son didn’t learn anything from his dad, but the skills of never feeling awkward.

Jing Lie knew she was usually timid, so he stopped teasing her. He got up and kissed her forehead, “To be honest… Don’t you feel like… The atmosphere is better in the office?”

Fang Jiu: “Not at all!”

Fang Jiu pushed open the door, got down, and shut the door. She ignored the person inside, who was watching her and immediately took strides back into the compound.

She felt like some traits could definitely be passed down from genes!

On Monday, when she went into the office, the co-workers were looking at her with a weird expression again. At the morning meeting, before Jing Lie arrived, those people in the meeting room stared at her meaningfully.

“Secretary Fang doesn’t show her true personality. We don’t even know how she manages to take our CEO’s heart,” that department head from the finances department exclaimed.

Fang Jiu was someone who works right beside the CEO, and everyone paid much attention to every action of hers. Everyone knew that today, the CEO had called the finances department himself to give Fang Jiu a raise. He increased her salary by 50k! That Assistant Lin, who had been working beside the CEO, only had a salary of 80k a month, and he had been here for four to five years.

Wait, no. Someone said that Assistant Lin got redirected to a subdivision today.

In that instant, everyone only felt like this woman should not be made an enemy. She could kill you any minute by talking to the CEO.

“Don’t say that. Our CEO isn’t someone who plays around. Maybe we will have to call our Secretary Fang ‘the CEO’s Wife’ in the future!” that female head of the human resources department pulled Fang Jiu’s hand with much enthusiasm and wasn’t willing to let her go, “Secretary Fang has been here at the company for such a long time, so she deserves to get a salary raise, right? You all only know to give this young girl a hard time.”

Everyone was smart enough to know how to flatter people. They naturally added toady comments, as if Fang Jiu was already the CEO’s wife.

Fang Jiu didn’t want to hear these sycophants’ words, and she went back to her seat after distributing the files. As soon as the clock showed it was half-past ten, Jing Lie appeared in the meeting room.

But this time, his expression did not look right. A man with his head down followed him in. Jing Lie walked to the end of the table and sat down, and with an inexplicable glance at Fang Jiu, he threw a pile of files heavily down onto the table.

“Vice Managing Director Liu has just gone to the auction for that piece of land at Nanwan. Instead of a hundred million RMB, which was already guaranteed, he called it with two hundred million!”

The cold male voice made everyone hold their breaths. They did not expect themselves to welcome such terrible news on Monday!

“Didn’t we discuss in our last meeting that we will get that piece of land with, at most, a hundred million RMB? Why did it suddenly change to two hundred million?”

“Yeah. Although that piece of land is good, it’s still not worth two hundred million!”

“Has Deputy Managing Director Liu gone crazy?”

There was lots of murmuring in the meeting room. That man who followed Jing Lie in suddenly lifted his head and said seriously as he stared at Fang Jiu, “Secretary Fang, didn’t you call me last night saying the Chairman wants that piece of land? Aren’t you the one who told me we need to win the auction even if it means we have to pay double the price?”
