VAAMMLB Chapter 3 Part 1

The drama Wen Yu was acting in was a xianxia with elements of the mortal world, and her role specifically revolved around the human realm.

In the drama, the male lead encountered and developed a deep connection with the white moonlight during his tribulation in the human realm. However, during a critical and ambiguous moment, he faced a crisis, and his white moonlight sacrificed herself to save him, leaving a profound impression on him. After his tribulation was completed, he encountered the female lead, who bore a resemblance to his white moonlight. As a result, he repeatedly came to her aid.

TL’s Note: White moonlight means first love.

Wen Yu’s role in the drama was not extensive, comprising only eight scenes, and she had few individual storylines.

Despite having limited screen time and individual storylines, Wen Yu’s character required a high level of attention to makeup and appearance due to her role and character design.

As soon as Wen Yu arrived on set, she was immediately taken to the makeup room where the makeup artists and stylists began working on her, creating the desired look for her character. Wen Yu’s assistant, XiaoYu, accompanied her and took care of various tasks, such as serving tea, pouring water, and offering support and care.

Wen Yu closed her eyes and allowed the makeup artists and stylists to work on her. Meanwhile, she requested Xiao Yu to assist with her script reading.

Fortunately, she was controlled by the plot and had an infatuation with Jiang Yunjin. Therefore, since they were in the same cast and she was determined not to be looked down upon by him, she had already memorized her limited scenes. Due to mental exhaustion from today’s incident, however, she experienced some forgetfulness.

After Xiao Yu read the script twice, Wen Yu recalled her lines and scenes.

The makeup and styling process was shorter than Wen Yu had anticipated, taking only two hours to complete.

Wen Yu glanced at herself in the mirror and admired the transformation brought about by the skillful hands of the stylist. She wore an elegant updo with a beautiful bun while her long hair cascaded down and reached her waist. Her light blue collared dress gave her a graceful and gentle appearance. The arched eyebrows in her makeup added a touch of refined beauty to her already delicate features.

With a gentle smile and a lifted gaze, she looked absolutely stunning.

With some time to spare, Wen Yu took a moment to appreciate herself, and Xiao Yu could not help but capture the moment on her phone, “Miss, you look amazing! Even better than during the makeup trial!”

After speaking, Xiao Yu quickly covered her mouth, afraid that she might say something wrong and offend Wen Yu. She hurriedly added, “Of course, the makeup trial photos were also beautiful, but now you look even more vibrant and alive. You’re definitely more stunning in person than in photos.”

Wen Yu smiled, “Thank you for the compliment.”

She was not surprised by that answer. After all, having been controlled by the storyline and breaking free from it completely, the latter state would undoubtedly be better. After all, if it were not for the control of the storyline, she would rather die than ever imagine herself doing something like pursuing a man even after he had a girlfriend!

Thinking about this matter, Wen Yu felt frustrated. If it were not for the storyline, how could she have ended up married?

Indeed, if things were different, Wen Yu would still have been recognized as the adopted daughter of the Jiang family and inherited her parents’ wealth. Life would have been incredibly affluent and comfortable!

Wen Yu let out a sigh and gracefully walked out, lifting her dress as she went.

The makeup area was not far from the filming location, and at this moment, the shooting had not yet begun. The crew members were busy setting up the scenery for a banquet scene, where the white moonlight would make her first appearance alongside her mother.

Not far away, Jiang Yunjin and Su Lengyue stood together. Jiang Yunjin was dressed in ancient attire, while Su Lengyue wore modern clothing. Despite their contrasting outfits, their actions and intimacy caused people nearby to steal glances.

“Some people certainly have no shame, chasing after a taken man to the extent of entering the cast with funding. Our crew is truly cursed. Looks like we’ll be pulling an all-nighter tonight,” a whispered murmur sounded, a mix of concealed and deliberate intent.

Coincidentally, Wen Yu was within earshot.

Wen Yu instinctively followed the sound and noticed two girls standing nearby, their attire not as refined as the others. One of them locked eyes with Wen Yu and immediately averted her gaze with disdain.

The other girl sighed and said, “Oh well, don’t even get me started. I’ve already bought coffee for this.”

“I’ve bought some too,” the first girl chuckled. “Luckily, he has a strong will and did not stoop to such disgraceful actions. Otherwise, I’m afraid the entire production would be brought to ruins.”

“Exactly! But now, the unlucky ones are just us who are filming with them. It’s ridiculous that someone who just entered the industry as a joke has ended up in this production.”

Wen Yu furrowed her brows.

Xiao Yu immediately sensed the tension and reassured Wen Yu, “Miss, don’t overthink it. Your role is straightforward, and you’ll do great.”

Wen Yu shook her head. She had not overthought but only felt embarrassed.

Fortunately, at that moment, the assistant director noticed Wen Yu and called her over, “Ms. Wen, let’s take a look and rehearse the scene.”

Wen Yu quickly rushed over.

——

As someone who joined the production as an investor without extensive filming experience, the crew had concerns about Wen Yu potentially encountering issues that could delay the production.

Given that night scenes were already tiring, the assistant director took the opportunity to personally coach Wen Yu, providing her with guidance and tips.

Wen Yu listened attentively, fully aware that this was directly related to her paycheck.

In the storyline, Wen Yu’s character was supposed to be expelled from the production and withdraw her investment. Due to urgent circumstances, a last-minute decision was made to use another actress and alter her face using artificial intelligence. As a result, the character of white moonlight, which should have left a lasting impression, became the only flaw in the drama.

Now, Wen Yu hoped for perfection.

Wen Yu listened attentively, and the assistant director felt reassured by her dedication, “Don’t be too nervous. With your talent, you’ll do just fine.”

Wen Yu pressed her lips together and smiled, “Thank you, assistant director. I will do my best.”

Soon, the sky darkened completely, and candles lit up. The director shouted at the top of his lungs into the loudspeaker, “Get ready, get ready—!”

Everyone was prepared, and the sound of the orchestral music filled the air. Supporting actors entered the scene one by one as the camera panned across several times instead of just once, capturing various shots that incessantly alternated between close-ups and long shots.

Wen Yu followed the actress portraying her mother into the banquet hall as the eunuch’s voice sounded. Though a veil concealed her face and only her brows and eyes were visible, she exuded an otherworldly beauty that captivated many, including the male lead, who pretended to be drunk.

Each part of the scene was a separate shot, too.

Wen Yu watched intently and realized that actors needed a sense of conviction to show a stunning performance while staring into the camera. She had to admit that Jiang Yujin performed excellently.

After Wen Yu entered the scene, a supporting actor deliberately provoked her, asking her to showcase her talents in front of everyone.

Coincidentally, they were the two girls who had openly criticized Wen Yu earlier.

Wen Yu could not help but curl her lips, and her eyes showed a little smile.

At this moment, the camera was not facing her but the two girls, who did not seem to expect that Wen Yu would smile at them. They were abruptly stunned, and their mind went blank. One of the girls did not say the words already at the tip of her tongue.

“Cut, cut, cut!” The director frowned, “What happened? Can’t even say two lines?”

“I’m sorry, director. I’m too nervous,” The girl quickly apologized.

The director waved his hand, signaling to start again.

This time, it went smoothly.

Wen Yu’s character, the white moonlight, hesitated and furrowed her brows. At that moment, the male lead took the initiative to defuse the situation by playing a melody on the xiao. With his accompaniment, the white moonlight stepped onto the stage.

TL’s Note: The xiao is a type of Chinese vertical flute.

Together with the male protagonist, they completed an astonishing performance.

But as she headed down the steps at the end of the performance, she stumbled.

The male lead, who happened to be walking behind her, offered his support and inadvertently brushed his xiao against her cheek, causing the veil to slip and reveal her true face. In that proximity, the male lead felt struck by her beauty, and his heart was captivated by that one glance.

This scene was filmed several times, mainly with various camera changes, so Jiang Yunjin repeatedly stared at Wen Yu. His eyes were particularly moving.

VAAMMLB Chapter 2 Part 2

As the live-stream comments suggested, when Wen Yu returned to her room and opened her phone, she discovered that “#JiangYunjinandWenYuPlayingGames#” and “#Wen Yu: Tsk~#” had made it onto the hot search leaderboard.

She clicked on them and found that they were filled with screenshots and videos from the live-streaming room. Some netizens had even managed to capture Wen Yu’s exposed battle records.

The following comments were all joking and teasing, saying things like, “Jiang Yujin’s image as the gaming genius has shattered.”

Occasionally, one or two comments would claim it was unlikely for a man and a woman alone to simply be playing video games, but Jiang Yunjin’s fans refuted them with Jiang Yunjin’s depressed emote: [If this was the case, how can there be other possibilities except for the fact that they were playing games? (“Jiang Yunjin: I can’t carry you, I really can’t carry you”.jpg)]

[I don’t believe someone like her would like Jiang Yunjin. (“Wen Yu: Tsk~”.jpg)]

The stickers carried various characteristics, but one had to admit that it did not seem as if the duo had an affair.

Wen Yu was sure after browsing through the comments that the event of her being caught in the act had passed!

In other words, there was no need to make Jiang Yujin’s da ge wear a green hat.

TL’s Note: “Da ge” is what one would call their eldest brother, and to wear a green hat means to be the significant other who is being cheated on.

In the event of a future divorce, those several properties would also belong to her, right?

Even if she did not get a house, she would be happy to receive a little more money.

Wen Yu, who had not been awakened before, had not cared about these matters. When she was younger, her parents were wealthy, but her family encountered some difficulties later on. However, she inherited the assets that belonged to her parents. Although there were significant losses due to the bankruptcy caused by the previous incident, it was true that a skinny camel was still bigger than a horse.

TL’s Note: “A skinny camel is bigger than a horse” is an idiom that means even if someone wealthy became poorer, they were still richer than people in poverty.

It was already enough to ensure a lifetime of wealth and prosperity for her.

Afterward, she moved in with the Jiang family. The parents of the Jiang family were generous and treated her no differently than they would their biological daughter. Whatever their son had, she was given as well, and perhaps she had even more. Jiang Yujin’s monthly allowance was only five hundred thousand yuan, while she received nearly two million yuan after combining her allowance with the additional funds received for purchasing clothes and jewelry.

Of course, as a result, she was not a frugal person and had no concept of money when it came to spending.

In the story, Wen Yu ultimately received a divorce settlement of only ten million yuan and was driven out of the Jiang family. For her at that time, the ten million yuan would be spent within a year at most, and life would indeed be quite difficult for her.

But now, she had awakened the memories of her previous life.

One should know that, in her past life, she had to work diligently for three years just to afford a bathroom at her workplace!

In comparison, she would be very content even with only ten million yuan.

But having a little more was still better than having nothing, and being caught in an affair did not bring any sort of good reputation. It would be wonderful if this plot point could smoothly pass.

There was not much storyline involving Wen Yu later on.

Due to this scandal, Wen Yu got divorced, and the Jiang parents were also very disappointed. Jiang Yunjin comforted them and took them on a vacation to relax. Once they were gone, there was naturally no one left who cared about Wen Yu.

Wen Yu’s reputation was ruined in addition to her divorce. Her heart was filled with hatred toward Su Lengyue, leading her to engage in a variety of malicious acts. However, the entertainment industry was a money-driven place. To have influence, she needed money. She quickly spent all the money she had available before she could do anything to Su Lengyue. Wen Yu ended up experiencing the hardships of being broke and returned, crying and begging for mercy.

Of course, the two brothers from the Jiang family were not soft-hearted, so Wen Yu, under the influence of certain individuals, ultimately completely fell into moral degradation.

Later, at a banquet, when Wen Yu saw Jiang Yunjin again, she did not dare to acknowledge him and immediately hid away. She completely lost her role and presence in his life.

As Wen Yu reminisced about her incident with Jiang Yunjin, she recalled the gradual liberation she experienced—from initially being heavily constrained by the plot to being able to move her hands, then her legs, and ultimately achieving complete freedom. In retrospect, she could be considered to have completely freed herself from the control of the storyline.

Wen Yu relaxed as she lay on her bed, relieved that she no longer had to act like a “bootlicker.” She enjoyed the moment for a while and then picked up her phone, thinking about inviting a couple of friends to go on a trip.

However, as soon as she opened her phone, she noticed a message notification on WeChat.

She clicked on it and saw that it was a message from the producer: [Ms. Wen, you have a scene tonight at 8 o’clock. When do you plan to come for makeup?]

The phrasing was so polite that, at first glance, she could tell the message was not written to an ordinary actor.

——

Wen Yu suddenly remembered it.

In the storyline, Wen Yu, in her pursuit of Jiang Yunjin, managed to track him down to the filming set. Jiang Yunjin’s main domain was the film industry, but he would also take on a television show once a year.

He was currently shooting a xianxia film in the studio where he played the lead role. However, Wen Yu was not cast as the female lead in that production.

TL’s Note: “Xianxia” is a genre that, under the influence of Daoism, incorporates elements from myths and fantasies.

She managed to enter the production with some financial resources, but her funds were limited. Thus, she could only secure the Nth female supporting character. Interestingly enough, this character happened to be the unrequited love interest of the male lead, Jiang Yunjin. In her mind and real life, she saw herself not as Jiang Yunjin’s unrequited love, but at least in the drama, she would thwart Su Lengyue and create a dissonance with the storyline!

Of course, she had already filmed several minor supporting roles before, all of which were glamorous and decorative vase-like characters.

The money she used came from the inheritance left by her parents.

Indeed, it was not surprising that in the original story, Wen Yu’s life took a turn for the worse. By spending all her money in pursuit of a man, she put herself in a vulnerable financial position. Investing in her acting career was not always a profitable endeavor, especially in the film industry, where the risk of financial loss was higher.

As Wen Yu’s heart ached, and she berated the storyline, she also reflected on her current situation. To grow closer to Jiang Yunjin, she intentionally arrived at the filming set several days ahead of schedule, claiming it was for learning. However, her true intention was to cling to Jiang Yunjin, causing him great distress. It was only then that Jiang Yunjin decided to invite Su Lengyue, who happened to be on a break at that time, to the set.

And she did not get to film any scenes.

Tonight was the first scene, where the white moonlight and the male lead first encountered each other.

Wen Yu was suddenly nervous.

It was important to note that the investment she made this time was with all of her remaining funds, which amounted to eight million yuan. While it might not have been a large sum of money in general, for Wen Yu in her past life, it was already a significant amount!

In the storyline, after the incident of her being caught in the act, she was removed from the project, and her investment was naturally lost. Therefore, she was unable to earn any money from it.

Right now, she was reluctant to withdraw her investment.

She remembered that the drama Jiang Yunjin was shooting had become a huge hit!

The surrounding merchandise and related products also became extremely popular, and the investors made a fortune!

And now, she was one of the investors!!!

Recalling this, Wen Yu sat upright and typed a response with a serious attitude: [That’s not an issue. I can come over at any time.]

The producer responded immediately: [That’s great. Can you come over right now?]

Wen Yu directly called her assistant, packed her things, and set off.

This was related to her money, so she needed to take it seriously!

VAAMMLB Chapter 2 Part 1

“Ms. Su? Why aren’t you going in?” An actor who lived in the next room passed by and asked when he saw Su Lengyue standing there, motionless.

Live stream comments: [Hurry up and go inside!]

[Is it that you forgot to bring a gift?]

[Why do I feel like there’s movement inside?]

Su Lengyue quickly smiled, “I felt like I had forgotten something. Let’s go in.”

She scanned the door card, and with a click, the door opened. Su Lengyue’s heart began to beat nervously. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

As soon as she entered, she saw two people sitting on the sofa.

A man and a woman.

Jiang Yunjin and his good sister-in-law, Wen Yu.

At that moment, Su Lengyue felt cold all over, picturing countless scenes in her mind. The real-time livestream comments also exploded:

[Holy shit, these two people???]

[Wait, what’s going on?]

[It couldn’t be a scene of an affair, couldn’t it? It’s over. It’s over now.]

Until they heard “Penta Kill!” followed by: “Aced.”

The duo, holding their phones with their heads down, collapsed on the sofa together.

Because of this, Jiang Yunjin’s face was revealed. Usually a high-spirited and handsome face, it was not full of the hopeless vicissitudes of life, and his voice was trembling, “…I can’t carry you. I really can’t carry you.”

Wen Yu looked aggrieved, “Aren’t you King?! Look at the number of games we have played! I didn’t even obtain a single star!!!”

The two exchanged glances, both displaying their dislike for each other.

Su Lengyue: “???”

Live-stream comments: [???]

[What just happened?]

[I thought it was a cheating scene, yet the result was???]

[Wow, my heart was in my throat, and then I heard ‘aced.’ Hahaha!!! Total annihilation! That must have been so miserable.]

[Jiang Yunjin looks tortured, and as a fellow gaming trainer, I can empathize with him.]

[Isn’t he a pro? How could he not even carry Wen Yu?]

[It scared me nearly to death. Nearly to death! Were these two people really playing video games together? Didn’t I hear that Wen Yu liked Jiang Yunjin? These two were locked in a room alone—a man and a woman alone…]

[I don’t really believe it either—playing video games?]

Su Lengyue’s heart slightly calmed down, but she still could not fully let it go. She wanted to ask about it but could not speak up due to the camera.

Wen Yu, on the other hand, let out a huge sigh of relief. She could retire now that Se Lengyue was here. Sure enough, she tried to get up, and her body was completely free of obstacles.

She walked directly over, passing by Su Lengyue’s side, and glanced at her.

Su Lengyue’s heart skipped a beat. She knew that Wen Yu would not leave so easily.

Since she started dating Jiang Yunjin, Su Lengyue had realized how much of a handful Wen Yu could be. It was just that these two had grown up together since childhood, so they had an extraordinary bond. To make matters more complicated, Wen Yu ended up marrying Jiang Yunjin’s older brother, becoming his sister-in-law so she could exert influence over him.

As a result, the presence of Wen Yu inflicted numerous conflicts between the two. However, every time, Jiang Yunjin sincerely apologized and assured Su Lengyue that he had no other intentions toward Wenyu.

Nonetheless, the current situation was indeed quite awkward.

Even if they were just playing games a moment ago.

But they were a man and a woman, playing video games alone in a hotel room.

But then Wen Yu faced the camera, her exquisitely beautiful little face puffed up, and she directly slammed her phone into the lens.

Jiang Yunjin’s expression subtly changed, “Wen Yu, shut your mouth!”

Wen Yu ignored him and proceeded to their match records to the camera. They played seven games over two hours, and they did not win a single one. She leaned in closer to the camera, “Take a look. He is the so-called ‘Strongest King’ in the entertainment industry. Tsk~”

After saying that, she retrieved her phone and gracefully left.

The sound of “Tsk~” carried a strong impact, and Jiang Yunjin’s face darkened. The livestream comments burst into laughter, no longer having any suspicions: [Hahaha, I saw it! Those match records are hilarious! I’m dying]

[They lost all matches! No wonder Wen Yu’s that mad]

[I have reason and evidence to suspect Wen Yu’s view of Jiang Yunjin has shattered, and she simply doesn’t like him anymore]

[I must admit, despite being sulky, Wen Yu is still quite good-looking. Hahaha, her appearance is indeed suitable for the entertainment industry. Jie, focus on your career, and don’t bother chasing after men]

TL’s Note: Jie is usually used by people referring to women older than them. It could also be taken as “girl, focus on your career, and don’t bother chasing after men.”

[It’s surprising that Jiang Yunjin, as a “King” in the game, couldn’t even carry a Bronze player. His skills were probably just superficial and pretentious]

[There used to be a lot of praise online about his gaming skills, and any esports event would always look for him first. But, now it seems that it was just hype]

[I have to agree. Jiang Yunjin almost got the MVP in every game, which is pretty impressive. However… I gotta say, being unable to carry people shows a lack of capability in certain aspects]

As Jiang Yunjin, who was visibly annoyed by Wen Yu’s actions in front of the camera, finally snapped out of it, he noticed Su Lengyue’s peculiar expression. He quickly stood up and took hold of her, almost swearing to the heavens, “We were really just playing a game. She was being bullied in the game, so she asked me to help her. We didn’t do anything else!”

Su Lengyue pursed her lips and smiled, “I know. You guys have been playing for quite a while now.”

Jiang Yunjin breathed a sigh of relief and embraced her, exclaiming, “You’re the best.”

The livestream comments, once again, erupted in laughter: [Seems like he went through a lot with Wen Yu.]

[His will to survive is quite impressive, hahaha! Jiang Yunjin, nobody’s doubting your relationship. Now, everyone’s questioning your skills as the king of gaming!]

VAAMMLB Chapter 1 Part 2

Right at this moment, Jiang Yunjin came out after changing his clothes.

Perhaps still wary of Wen Yu, he wore a shirt with the collar buttoned up tightly around his throat, making him somewhat uncomfortable. As he came out, he was still adjusting his collar, but the moment he saw Wen Yu, he stopped and sat down seriously, “Are we really going to play?”

Wen Yu nodded vigorously and said, “Yes!”

Jiang Yunjin was dumbfounded as he looked at her still somewhat angrily pouting mouth. In the end, she was still a sister whom he had been with for more than ten years. Even if there was no love between them, she was part of his family. Although, in these past two years, he had grown very tired of Wen Yu, he was still soft-hearted at this moment.

And this person was his sister-in-law nowadays.

Jiang Yunjin resignedly turned on his phone and said, “Wait a moment. Our ranks are too far apart to play together. I’ll create a smurf account.”

A hint of impatience flickered in Wen Yu’s eyes. Why was it taking so long to start?

In the story, the scene was supposed to happen quickly. They were only supposed to be entangled with each other for a short period that lasted approximately fifteen minutes. Now, it had already been five minutes, and if they kept delaying, they would not even start!

Fortunately, Jiang Yunjin was quick. In just a minute, he had created a new account and purchased the heroes needed.

Jiang Yunjin added Wen Yu as a friend and clicked on the ranked mode. The game began.

Jiang Yunjin said, “Just pick any supporting character and follow me.”

Wen Yu nodded and said, “Alright.”

She hesitantly found and selected a beautiful supporting character. Truth be told, she was not familiar with playing games. It was Jiang Yunjin who enjoyed gaming; he was renowned in their social circle for being a top gamer and had many professional players as his friends. They often played games together.

To get closer to Jiang Yunjin, she had tried to learn how to play the game before. However, she lacked patience and relied on boosting services to climb up to the King rank. Due to her own mistakes, she kept losing again and again until she hit the Bronze rank.

As such, she was not exaggerating when she said she got roasted by other players in the game.

Other players, having been matched with high-level players, initially thought she was a mogul. However, it turned out that she was even worse than them and constantly became a liability to the team. Naturally, they resorted to harsh criticism and verbal abuse.

Just like the current situation—

“Follow me, follow me!” Jiang Yunjin shouted anxiously.

Wen Yu clumsily maneuvered her character, yet she was confused as both sides fought, “Where are you?”

“Ah, ah, help me. I’m under siege!”

The next second, the screen went black.

Just as Jiang Yunjin was about to turn around to save her, he was also beaten in the group fight and killed.

The death countdown was more than forty seconds, and Jiang Yunjin looked at Wen Yu with a grave expression.

Wen Yu lowered her head due to her guilty conscience, “I’m sorry. I didn’t play well.”

Jiang Yujin replied, “It’s okay. I don’t blame you.”

Two minutes later, he looked at Wen Yu, who died again in the game, “Didn’t I ask you to guard the middle tower?!”

“Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. When they pulled me, I didn’t know where to go..” Wen Yu was also heartbroken. She had died so many times that her teammates began to roast her.

Jiang Yunjin: “…It’s fine. Let’s start another game! I don’t believe that we just can’t win!”

Wen Yu hummed and clicked to begin another game. While waiting, she glanced at the time—eighteen minutes had passed. Why hasn’t anything happened yet?

She wanted to call it a day!

She could not experience the game at all because she kept on dying.

——

Su Lengyue was filming an advertisement for a brand.

At the same time, a team was recording her filming the advertisement.

Su Lengyue was a little flower that had risen in the past two years. She did not have particularly stunning looks, but she was pretty and versatile. In short, her makeup and costumes were up to par, and she could look like anything she played: an innocent white lotus, an enchanting oiran, and even an arrogant and pampered concubine.

TL’s Note: “Little flower” is the Chinese slang for a young, popular female celebrity who has not won too many awards yet. “Oiran,” in this case, means the top-performing prostitute in ancient China.

Her reputation was also good, and her career was rising steadily.

But what made her most popular was probably her romance with Jiang Yunjin. Jiang Yunjin had been nominated for Best Actor many times, and he was a very successful example of transitioning from an idol to an actor, with both popularity and capability.

After entering a relationship with him, her ranking in the circle suddenly improved a lot.

And many shows began to invite her.

It just so happened that she had recently accepted the invitation from a lifestyle variety show that would chronicle three days of her life.

The cameras would follow her for the entirety of the three days.

Today’s agenda was to have a date with Jiang Yunjin in the morning, shoot a commercial in the afternoon, and have dinner together when she returned. She would watch Jiang Yunjin as he acted and advertised for his film in advance.

For this reason, Jiang Yunjin especially told the production crew that he was staying home during the daytime.

It was just that the shooting of this advertisement had not been smooth.

The filming should have been completed a long time ago, but for some reason, the cameras had made several mistakes, and it took until now.

Fortunately, Su Lengyue had a good temper and continued filming without a hint of complaint until the very end. Finally, the cameraman was satisfied, “OK! Perfect! Ms. Su is truly the darling of the camera.”

The photographer smiled apologetically, “Thank you for your hard work.”

“It’s nothing,” Su Lengyue waved her hand, “It’s all for the advertising effect.”

Now that they had finished filming, it was time to leave. Su Lengyue led the production team members to depart together. At this moment, after watching the tedious shooting come to an end, the real-time stream comments, which had become much more lively, excitedly exclaimed: [Wow, wow, wow, it’s finally over]

[Su Su has such a good temper, truly deserving of being successful in her career]

[Hehe, but I love watching romance. We will be able to see Jiang ge soon. (Ecstatic emote)]

TL’s Note: “Ge” is an affectionate nickname people use for a male when they want to show respect or intimacy.

[Is Jiang ge so bored that he is playing video games? Hahaha, his wife is not here, so there is nothing for him to do]

The car drove all the way to the crew’s hotel.

Su Lengyue led the cameraman to Jiang Yunjin’s room. When they reached the door, they suddenly heard movement inside. Was that a girl’s voice?

She instinctively tightened her grip on the room key. The previous sense of something being wrong seemed to have an answer at this moment. She was momentarily startled and hesitant to open the door.

VAAMMLB Chapter 1 Part 1

Hi everyone! We’re super excited to start translating The Villainess Awakens After Marrying the Male Lead’s Brother. It’s a super fun book, so we hope y’all enjoy it~ ^_^ — Kathrien & Sydney

“Wen Yu, what are you doing this time?!”

A voice full of alarm and disgust startled the stunned girl.

As soon as Wen Yu regained her senses, she saw the man in front of her clutching the towel tightly around his waist, as if afraid that she would take advantage of him. She immediately felt a sense of ridicule and instinctively thought about turning around and leaving.

However, her feet seemed to be rooted to the spot, unable to move. The man in front of her grew even more vigilant, but neither of them dared to make any sudden movements. They stood there, facing each other, like two wooden posts.

It seemed unlikely that she would be able to go now!

In this situation, Wen Yu tightly gripped her phone. Summoning all her strength, she opened the gaming app on her phone.

The sound of “Timi—” broke the silence in the room.

TL’s note: Timi is the symbolic opening sound of a very famous Chinese game which is equivalent to League of Legends (Wangzhe Rongyao/王者荣耀 or Honor of Kings)

For a moment, the person in front of her immediately had a strange expression.

She seemed to regain some control over her body. A thought flashed through Wen Yu’s mind, and Wen Yu pouted and cried, “Brother! I just got flamed while playing the video game. I’m so angry. Aren’t you a really overpowered King player? Quickly, go carry me!”

TL’s note: “King” is the highest possible ranking in Wangzhe—similar to how “Unreal” is the highest rank in Fortnite (not that any of us plays Fortnite haha).

Jiang Yunjin’s expression crackled: “…What did you just call me?”

She gained even more control over her body. It seemed that this move was correct. Wen Yu said naturally with a hint of confusion, “Brother. I was being roasted alive while playing the game. Aren’t you going to help me? They flamed me for being a stubborn Bronze player. It pisses me off! What’s wrong with being Bronze? I want to reach King, and you should carry me to King! Watch me annihilate them!”

As she spoke, she started to sob uncontrollably again.

Jiang Yunjin’s expression grew even more peculiar, showing a mix of disbelief, hesitation, and concern.

Following that, Wen Yu suddenly realized that her legs could move again. In the next second, her legs gave way, and she fell to her knees on the ground.

Jiang Yunjin’s complexion changed slightly, and he immediately moved forward to support her, “Don’t be like this. I’ll carry you!”

Wen Yu still maintained a look of distress and discomfort. At the same time, the interface of the mobile game had already loaded, and she anxiously looked at him. Her gaze inadvertently caught a glimpse of his well-built chest revealed by the loosened towel. She quickly averted her eyes and hesitated, saying, “Should we start now?”

Jiang Yunjin glanced instinctively, his face slightly changing. He wanted to let go, but seeing her kneeling on the ground, he found it inappropriate. Instead, he lifted her and carried her to the couch, “Wait here, I’ll change my clothes.”

Wen Yu nodded obediently, “Okay.”

Jiang Yunjin grabbed his clothes and then stared at her for a couple of seconds.

Wen Yu blinked innocently and shook her phone, “Hurry up.”

Jiang Yunjin muttered under his breath, “What’s going on?”

He still went into the bathroom.

Wen Yu immediately tried to get up, but as soon as she moved, she felt a dense stinging sensation of pins and needles. Her expression changed as well. Could she still not walk?

Did the plot really have to go in this direction?

Wen Yu felt the urge to curse.

God knows how, just now, she suddenly awakened the memories of her past life. Only then did she realize that, for all these years, she had been unknowingly following the path of a vicious supporting female character in the storyline.

——

Wen Yu possessed memories from her past life.

In her previous life, she was just a diligent office worker, working hard until 9 p.m. every day with a monthly salary of six thousand yuan for her boss who drove a six-million-yuan luxury car.

As a result of excessive overtime work, she tragically passed away from a sudden death, only to transmigrate and be reborn into a new life.

Initially, she still retained her memories from her past life, but as she grew older, those memories gradually faded away. Then, her parents died, and her family went bankrupt. She had no choice but to seek shelter in the Jiang family, where she grew up with Jiang Yunjin, the second son of the Jiang family who was just two years younger than her. They were childhood friends, and since their teenage years, she had admired him.

However, Jiang Yunjin did not have romantic feelings for her and only treated her as a younger sister figure.

Originally, everything was peaceful. With the pretext of being his younger sister, she would often meddle with Jiang Yunjin’s romantic encounters, hoping that one day he would turn his gaze towards her.

However, the female lead appeared.

Jiang Yujin was the male lead, a second-generation rich kid. Even so, he didn’t want to join his family’s corporation and instead went against the grain. He plunged himself into the entertainment industry, first as a popular idol before later transitioning into acting. He was extremely popular and adored by fans and fellow stars alike.

The female lead, on the other hand, came from a humble background and poor family conditions. She was forced to enter the industry and nearly fell victim to unethical practices. However, she was saved by the male lead, Jiang Yujin and the duo crossed paths many times, eventually leading to their entering a relationship together.

Yet even after they got together, their relationship was far from smooth sailing. In the plot, there was a vicious supporting female character Wen Yu, who after witnessing the male lead’s indifference toward her, impulsively married the male lead’s brother out of sheer anger and confusion. Using her new status as his sister-in-law, she later tormented the main leads both openly and covertly, causing many misunderstandings.

The most severe incident would occur during this particular time.

Not long after, the female lead, who was participating in a variety show, would return with the camera crew. It was supposed to be a sweet and affectionate scene with her boyfriend, but to her shock, she would discover her boyfriend embracing his sister-in-law, and both of them would be in disarray. This revelation would cause a massive uproar across the internet.

The two would almost break up at this point, but fortunately, they would manage to maintain their trust in each other. The two would join forces and devise a plan to bring Wen Yu down. Pretending to reconcile with her, they would lure her into a trap, but in reality, live-stream their entire encounter online, thus exposing Wen Yu’s ugly nature. Jiang Yunjin, who was initially condemned as a cheating scoundrel, would turn into a figure that the whole internet sympathized with as a hapless victim.

As a result of this incident, Wen Yu would also be forcefully divorced by the male lead’s older brother.

In the plot, the male lead stated a memorable line: “If it weren’t for your attempt at cheating, even if you divorced, my brother wouldn’t have let you end up in such a situation. He had mentioned before that the several houses in the Jiangzhou compound were originally meant for you.”

Wen Yu’s misery meant leaving the Jiang family with ten million yuan, only to face betrayal and abandonment from everyone.

Wen Yu, recalling her identity as a working-class individual from her past life: “…?”

This is what it means to be “miserable?!”

Speaking of which, when she took a break from her busy schedule to read the novel, Wen Yu was furious and left a comment. She felt that the author was too lenient toward this villainess—she even received ten million yuan?

At the time, the author replied by stating that the supporting female character had been raised by the Jiang family for over ten years, so it was hard to sever familial ties. Compared to the Jiang family and the several properties originally intended for her, ten million yuan was simply insignificant.

All Wen Yu could think of now was to kneel and express gratitude to the author.

Who would have thought that she would end up being reborn into the body of this malicious supporting female character?!

Putting aside everything else, she still really wanted those properties.

She remembered that Jiangzhou Residential Area was a high-end development region owned by the Jiang family’s real estate company. Even the cheapest property there would cost a minimum of ten million yuan! That was why she must prevent the plot point where she got caught in the act of cheating.

It seemed that she hadn’t completely freed herself from the constraints of the storyline yet as she was unable to leave.

If that was the case, then…

Her phone suddenly rang.

Wen Yu glanced at it. The call was from her fake best friend in the plot, Zhao Qingyuan.

This scene about catching them in the act of cheating was actually orchestrated by Wen Yu herself. If she had not been obsessed with Jiang Yujin’s handsomeness, which led to the exposure of everything, no one would have imagined that she would willingly renounce her reputation for such a gamble.

Wen Yu did not answer the call. She declined it before casually blocking her in the process.

She was not really worried about what would happen in the future.

As long as the incident did not occur, then nothing would matter even if the Jiang family discovered everything.
